Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?
A: Registered dietitians have met academic and professional standards; they have earned a bachelor's degree, completed an internship program, passed a national exam, and complete continuing education requirements. The title "dietitian" is protected by law.
Some states have laws about who can call themselves a "nutritionist," but in other states, virtually anyone can call themselves a "nutritionist," even if they do not have a nutrition education.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: No, not at this time.

Q: Why should I pay to see a dietitian?
A: There are many reasons to visit a dietitian. Dietitians are food and nutrition experts and can help you meet you nutrition goals, whether they be related to weight, specific health conditions, nutrition education, or simply improving your overall health.  Just as regular car maintenance will help prevent significant costs on repair and services, improving your health through your diet can prevent many serious health conditions and keep you at your best. And unlike a vehicle, your body cannot be replaced!

Q: What is your payment policy?
A: Payments are accepted via cash or check and are required at the beginning of each session.

Q: What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
A: Advanced notice of at least 24 hours is required for all cancellations and appointment changes. Simply call or email.
